The Kraken King Part IV The Kraken King and the Inevitable Abduction edition by Meljean Brook Romance eBooks

This is the fourth installment out of a total of eight installments that are releasing weekly for the Kraken King book (this is book 4 overall in the Iron Seas series). This was a very well additon to the Kraken King story, although there was less action than in previous installments and more romance.

Zenobia and Ariq finally make it to the Red City. Ariq has declared Zenobia to be under his protection, but in return he wants to learn her secrets. While Zenobia struggles with the decision of whether or not to trust Ariq, they both find out that there are bigger dangers and plots afoot.

This was very well done. Again there wasn't as much action as in the first two parts of this book. There is a bit more romance in this installment, all the romance is incredibly well done.

I continue to enjoy both Zenobia and Ariq as characters; they are interesting, likable, and engaging. This is the episode where Zenobia reveals many of her secrets, we also learn more of Ariq’s back story.

I really enjoyed the description of the The Red City, it is a living city made of coral that grows and changes. It's such an imaginative idea and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to see more of The Red City in the next installment.

This is a very short read. I continue to be frustrated by the fact this is being released in installments. For this book I will continue to read the installments, but for future books in the series I will wait until the final book is released to read it.

Overall this was a great addition to the series. I continue to enjoy the characters and loved the introduction to The Red City. There was more romance and politics than action in this episode. Hopefully the next episode will pick up pace and be a bit longer. This one was a very short read. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

My 1 star has little to do with the content of the story and everything to do with the price as well as the fact that each of segment of this serial includes a preview of another book taking up 20% of the pages listed. I have loved reading Meljean Brooks' work and hve purchased almost everything she has written. I recently read that this whole story will be published in one book this winter. If I had waited I could have likely purchased the entire thing for what I have spent on four segments. I am very unhappy and want my money back. If I am not reimbursed it is unlikely I will ever buy anything she writes.
Ariq and Zenobia and their group finally reach the Red City and Helene's husband. Ariq and Zenobia have set a dealine to expose secrets and advance their relationship and what follows is so sensual that the romance is breathtaking. From the beginning to the beautiful end it is one big emotional roller coaster that I would stand in line to read again and again. If you aren't already in love with the Kraken King this story will make you fall head over heels.
Holy crumb. Ariq and Zenobia just can't catch a break. Just when you think they're going to be able to break down those walls and finally get together, something happens. But that something leads to something unexpected, so... yeah.

I really love the look we get at how much Ariq's admires Zenobia. She's not like most women and it's those very differences that draw him to her. And the glimpses we get of her insecurities and the pain she's hiding from her past absolutely slayed me. At one point, Zenobia likens Ariq to his namesake, the Kraken. She thinks to herself that, like the Kraken, there's more to him beneath the surface than anybody can see. The same goes for her.

And that's what makes them so fascinating.

Danger is afoot and sparks are flying. On the plus side, many of those pesky secrets floating around are coming to light. It's getting tense and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Zenobia and her friend Helene have finally reached the Red City where Helene's husband is the French ambassador. After being nearly abducted and subsequently rescued by Ariq in the smugglers' dens Zenobia breathes a sigh of relief - only the has another problem Ariq is determined to know her secrets. Already he knows her true identity, and although Zenobia wants to trust him she cannot be certain how much he already knows, how much she should tell him and if he truly cares for her.

Meljean Brook turns up the heat in this installment, and just as it seems Zenobia and Ariq will finally have a true forging of hearts everything changes (this is the "Inevitable Abduction" part of the title). They are taken by two men from Ariq's past who are determined to get their hands on a deadly war machine to combat the Great Khagan of the Golden Empire. Ariq left his rebel days behind and he refuses to give up the weapon - and he refuses to give up on Zenobia. However, it may prove impossible to do both.

This is the halfway point of the Kraken King. Despite being filled mainly with dialogue and contemplation by the characters this part ends with the most excitement and will leave you desperate to know how Zenobia and Ariq will find their way out of this newest predicament.
