The Natural Order A Young Adult Fantasy Adventure The Natural Order School of Magic Series Book 1 eBook RJ Vickers

This book received some terrific reviews; comparisons with Harry spotter, etc, but it just wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be.
I really liked the premise, but honestly felt like the characters were just too immature.
When they learned about the possibility of something serious and horrible, they just went off half cocked. Why want there more conversation about what the problem was, why was it happening, what could be done to solve it. I found that really frustrating.

The Natural Order A Young Adult Fantasy Adventure The Natural Order School of Magic Series Book 1 eBook RJ Vickers Reviews

I give The Natural Order a full five stars. It was exciting, adventurous, and totally captivating. The story moved at a good pace. The characters were wonderful. Fans of Harry Potter will love this series!
I enjoyed this - I didn’t at first. It seemed contrived, but as the author unfolded the story, it evolved and became something new and different. I only wish she would have dealt more with the characters’ backstories and histories. Perhaps in the next few books? Magic and young adult books are old news, but the author delivers a fresh perspective and interesting possibilities emerge for the future. I want more and isn’t that the ultimate sign of a good book!?!??
I very much enjoyed the first book and have ordered the prequel and the other 3 to finish the series. I like that it takes place in our world and yet apart. Some of the criticisms are aimed at the actions of teenagers - they are teenagers and do go off half-cocked at times and don't always think through the ripple effect of their actions. It is a young adult book aimed at a younger group and very enjoyable.
The Natural Order is an enjoyable, page-turning fantasy aimed at the YA audience. Vickers gives us a spectrum of interesting characters, each with their own personal problems and a common, larger mystery where are they and why are they there? Most intriguing, and what lifts this novel above so many others, is Vickers’ theory of magic. Unlike other fantasy novels I’ve read, there are no clear categories of good or evil. The characters on both sides have compelling reasons to believe they are right. Still, a terrible choice must be made.
This book is a book for all ages. It is well written and keeps you turning the pages. I found it hard to put down. There is a lot of mystery in this story as you follow Tristan, Amber and the others through their instruction about the world of magic.
This is an interesting story in the vein of Harry Potter. I can easily see this becoming a movie. The story narrative is well told, but sometimes the character’s dialog seems a bit “off”. There’s a couple things about the story that bothers me. (1) Where does the Magic School get all that fabulous food? I suppose it could be produced by magic like at Hogwarts, but it never magically appears on the dining tables. It’s always brought out of the very busy kitchen. It’s never explained. (2) These are 15 healthy teenagers residing at the school, both boys and girls, yet over the course of a year none of them are the least bit interested in sex.

UPDATE The author may have also realized the two issues I mentioned above. Both are addressed in Book 2, Rogue Magic.
I spent 6 hrs at the airport and on a flight consuming this book. It was fabulous! Made the time fly and I've already ordered book 2 so I can continue reading. Heaps of good twists, rich characters and really good story line. Make sure you read the prequel first so you know how Tristan got where he is.
Highly recommend. I loved it!
